Wendy’s questions

I feel a mid life crisis coming on and that is a good thing. For if it truly is a mid life crisis that would mean I live to be 110. Life has been very busy the last several weeks (couple of months) that is the reason for the lack of posts over the same period. As with most people life interrupts our leisure periods and pleasures with “stuff”. So where did my summer and my vacation time go?  Why do I feel this crisis is coming upon me?

First there were the travels to grandma’s a couple of times. There was a family reunion to attend, and a weekend visit to the in-laws.  Both daughters choose to move this summer, on the same weekend no less, so we helped one smartly choosing the one with less and lighter stuff. The other daughter is also remodeling their home, so there were a couple trips to help with installing windows and hanging sheet rock. My wife and I are preparing for the Chicago Marathon so there are hours of running each week, of course there is church, our yard to mow, plumbing issues we had to fix, non working air conditioners, and every day dishes or chores. One son and grandson are staying with us so we shared some child care and trips to the county fair. I work in the grain business so there was summer harvest. Oh and there is the house we are restoring in any spare time we might have, I really feel life is busy.
Add the hot dry weather and I feel like a Kansas dust devil, going somewhere fast, spinning, and stirring up dust everywhere but not so sure I am really having a effect on anything or anyone.. In the mist of this dust storm God chooses to challenge me with a few questions. Questions I hear when it is quiet. When I lay down at night they are on my mind, in the morning stillness with coffee in hand they are in my thoughts…Precisely three questions: What should church really be like?, What’s really important to me?, and Do my answers to those questions change how should I live the next part of my life?
Those are what I call “Wendy’s questions”, as in “would you like Biggie Fries or a Biggie Drink?” If I choose to deal with them they could be large life changing questions, real biggies. Not sure I have the answers yet, and if I did mine would not match yours, but this is my blog.. If you care to join me the next few posts will deal with these questions and resulting self discoveries.
Yep, I feel a mid life crisis coming and I don’t think the answer is a red convertible. Oh, but I also have been shopping for a car!
